Open Morning - Tuesday 22nd January 2019

Thank you to all the grown-ups that came to our open morning in Foundation, we absolutely loved having everyone there and the atmosphere was amazing! Here are some pictures taken of the day...

Happy New Year! A very warm welcome back to school for 2019. We hope you have all enjoyed the break and spent quality time with your family. All EYFS staff would like to thank you for your generosity in the led up to Christmas, we were overwhelmed with cards and gifts- thank you!

This half term's topic relates to animals.

We begin with looking closely at Oliver Jeffers Lost and Found story, learning facts about Arctic and Antarctic animals, as well as other stories that are set in Wintery settings. We shall be completing some first hand experiments with ice, and snow, and see what effect global warming may be having on the animals that survive on cold lands.

Following that we shall be using money and purchasing 'animals' in the Pet Shop whilst looking at The Great Pet Sale, and learning about how animals differ from each other, and what they need to survive.

The middle 2 weeks of the term we shall be creating our own books; the children will choose an animal to write about in a mysterious way, and they will be concentrating on descriptive language. We will be recapping size and develop our use of non standard units of measurement for purpose.

The final 2 weeks of Spring 1 will be SUPER! We have a Superhero Topic that has been chosen by the children. We shall be looking at the adventures of Supertato and Super Daisy, becoming Superheroes for the Day, designing masks and capes, and using our imagination to become a new superhero with powers! During this time we will be concentrating on how numbers have bonds and how these bonds can be put together to make new numbers.

This half term we shall be holding an Open Morning, TLC's and a Superhero Day- details to follow.

Our Nativity!

Thank you so much to all the parents, grandparents and family that came to the Squirrels and Hedgehog's Wriggly Nativity. We have all worked hard to create a magical, Christmas performance that we thoroughly enjoyed performing to you all. Thank you again for all the hard work at home, learning the songs and also for the beautiful costumes.

Merry Christmas from all the Foundation staff!

On 16th October 2018 we went on our very first school trip to Ferry Meadows!

We had an amazing time learning about different Traditional Tales such as Hansel and Gretel, The Three Little Pigs, Little Red Riding Hood and Goldilocks and the Three Bears (and the bus was great too!).

Here are some of the pictures taken of the day so you can see how much fun we had!

I'd like to offer a very warm welcome to all Reception Parents; we hope you and your children are ready for the start of their school journey here at Eye.

We have two classes in Reception:

Hedgehogs with Mrs White (Mon, Tues and Wed) and Miss Oliver (Thurs and Fri).

Squirrels with Miss Rimes.

This first half term of school is very exciting but also a little new and scary, but don't worry because everyone feels the same! We will be learning how to come in to school and put our own things away, how to follow some simple school rules, we will be trying new foods that Mrs Drew in the kitchen makes for us and making a lot of new friends.

As well as settling in to a new routine and beginning to understand the rules, we shall be looking at Percy the Park Keeper and his friends. Alongside this we shall be exploring all of the lovely Maths resources in the Unit and sorting different objects in a range of different ways.

During this time of settling in, the children will have plenty of time to be outside in our wonderful Forest School area, and learn about how to safely use and move legs, sticks and branches.

Please do not hesitate to talk to your child's class teacher, or Miss Robinson if you have any questions.

We look forward to seeing you on Thursday smiley
