Mrs Brough

Can you introduce yourself and tell us what you do at our school?
I'm Mrs Brough and I teach in Koala class.  I'm also the assistant headteacher.  I'm responsible for behaviour throughout school so I sort out all of the behaviour rewards, and I monitor red cards to see if any children need help.  I lead Curriculum for Life Skills and I encourage and invite parents to come into school. My favourite role is being responsible for everything to do with the church.

What did you study at University?

My degree is in History and Education Studies. I studied at Bishop Grosseteste College in Lincoln. It was a brilliant course because I got to visit the war graves in France and go to the Somme memorial. I was part of a documentary for BBC Radio Lincolnshire when we went to France!

What were your favourite subjects at school?
I've always loved History, especially German history and the world wars. I had a brilliant teacher in secondary school who nurtured my love of history and I was the first pupil to get an A* at GCSE! I also loved English; reading books and talking about them was just fab. I still do that now as I'm part of an online book club.

What did you do before you were a teacher?
When I was a student, I was a waitress! I worked in some very posh places in Lincoln. I once spilled gravy on a bride! Whoops! But I'm very good at making tea and coffee and I can carry lots of plates at once!

What do you like to do out of school?
I still love History, so I like to go to museums and historical places to find out new things. I put my English Heritage membership to good use at weekends and in the holidays! My husband and I love to explore new places, so we get out and about as often as we can. Travelling abroad is always exciting. Our favourite holidays are in Canada and America.

We are huge country music fans, so I'm often seen in my Stetson at concerts, singing my favourite country songs! I'm a bookworm too. I can read a novel in a day if it hooks me in! Most of I love sitting on the sofa, watching TV boxsets with my cat Bailey on my knee.

What's your favourite meal?

How I can I choose just one meal? I love food and wish I could be a professional food taster! But if I have to pick just one meal, it has to be macaroni cheese. I'm constantly in search of the best mac n cheese. If you have any recommendations, let me know!

Is there anything you really don't like?

Spiders!!!! I shudder at the very thought.  And sprouts. Terrible Christmas nastiness. And Star Wars. Star Trek is so much better. Oh and rollercoasters. Hate that funny feeling in my tummy. Which is why I don't like landing in a plane either!!

Can you describe yourself in one adjective?

Caring
