London trip was Wicked!
My Trip to London
On Wednesday 4th November 2009, yr5 and yr6 endured a trip to London’s National Gallery. Whilst we were in the busy, capital city, we went to see “Wicked”, the west end show.
There was a gruelling two and a half hour bus journey to London and around another half an hour drive to get to the National Gallery. I sat next to Jess along the journey while playing my D.S, but eventually we had to turn off all electronic games because we had arrived in London. The bus driver gave us a quick tour, explaining where we were, like on the outskirts of London or in the centre.
I was almost flung out of my seat as the bus juddered to a halt. We filed out the bus and in our pairs, we walked to the Gallery. All of yr5 and yr6 clumped up the steps, after hanging their bags in the cloakroom. Me and Jessica followed the class into a peaceful hall which was full with ancient paintings. The information panels indicated that a few paintings were over one-hundred years old! Tourists were wandering around, staring at the valuable paintings. Mrs Revell, our class teacher, asked a member of staff about the painting, “Castle of Muiden” In Winter, only to discover that the painting had been taken down the previous day. So instead we looked at other delicacies.
Back on the bus we passed a few famous buildings and landmarks, such as: The London Eye, Trafalgar Square, Big Ben, Little Ben, The Houses of Parliament and Buckingham Palace!
We arrived at the theatre and once again descended from the bus, onto the platform.
In the theatre, “Wicked” was one of the best pantomimes ever! The stage and sound effects were realistic, and the singing was powerful and clear. It was easy to follow and understand what was going on. “Wicked” was a replay of the Wizards of Oz but from a witch’s point of view. It was magnificent, a ten out of ten rating!
On the way back from the theatre we all talked over the day. The play and all the activities we did, everyone enjoyed them. I was upset to leave London but happy to be at home. I’ll never forget that trip, it was truly amazing!
