World Book Day 2017- Poet Visit

World Book Day 2017

Poet visit from Paul Delaney

We had a fantastic time celebrating World Book Day this year with an exciting visit from the author and poet Paul Delaney. Paul started the day with an engaging assembly which enthused both children and staff alike. We loved hearing his poems, not to mention his superb piano playing as we entered and left the hall. Each year group was then able to take part in a poetry writing workshop based on one of Paul's poems. The poetry writing talent was oozing from the hall as children became engrossed in creating their own ideas for their poem. The end of Paul's two day visit saw an opportunity for us to celebrate and enjoy the poems that had been writing. Children from each class shared their poetry with the rest of the school and Paul treated us with a final performance of a few more of his poems. Before he left, Paul was able to sign some of his books for us to buy and keep as a reminder of an extremely enjoyable and worthwhile visit.

Here we are with Paul dressed up in our poetry character outfits.
