We are looking forward to starting another engaging and exciting half-term in Year 4! Here's a glimpse into what your child will be learning this half term:

Curriculum Overview

English βœοΈπŸ“–

In poetry, we will be exploring Look! By Grace Nicholls, using it as inspiration to write a list poem based on a traditional rhyme. We will then be exploring the focus text: Where the Forest Meets the Sea by Jeannie Baker, Jungle Explorer by The Literacy Company as inspiration to write an information board. 

Maths βž•βž–

In maths, we will be focusing on decimals, money and time, developing our understanding and confidence across these key areas.

Science πŸͺ¨πŸ¦΄

In science, we will be learning about living things and their habitats, exploring how different organisms live and interact with their environments.

History βš”οΈπŸ›‘️🏰

In history, we will be learning about the Anglo-Saxons, the Vikings, and the Norman Conquest, exploring how these groups shaped Britain’s past.

Art🎨🌿🧡

In art, we will be exploring craft and design through the theme “Fabric of Nature,” creating work inspired by natural patterns, textures, and materials.

Music 🎢πŸ₯

In music, we will be exploring samba and carnival sounds, learning about the instruments and rhythms that bring this vibrant style to life.

French πŸ‡«πŸ‡·πŸ—£

In French, we will be learning about the topic “What is the weather?”, developing vocabulary and speaking skills to describe different types of weather.️

RE ✝️🌍

In RE, we will be exploring the question “When Jesus left, what next?”, looking at Christian beliefs about what happened after Jesus Christ left and how this shaped the early Christian community.

PE πŸ—ΊοΈπŸƒ

In PE, we will be focusing on rounders, developing our striking and fielding skills through a range of team activities.

PSHE πŸ§ πŸ’¬

In PSHE, we will be exploring economic wellbeing, helping pupils understand money, choices, and how to manage resources responsibly.

ComputingπŸ’»πŸ“Έ

In computing, we will be focusing on photo editing, manipulating digital images and reflecting on the impact of changes to ensure the intended purpose is achieved

Additional Information for Parents ℹ️πŸ‘ͺ

πŸƒ‍♂️ PE – Every Thursday
Please send your child to school with their full PE kit every Thursday.
PE Kit includes:

  • White t-shirt
  • Black shorts/leggings/tracksuit bottoms
  • Appropriate footwear (trainers)

    Important: No earrings are allowed during PE and Forest school sessions. Children must be able to remove them independently as staff cannot assist and tape is no longer permitted. Children unable to remove their earrings will not be able to take part. Long hair must be tied up for all lessons.

  • 🧴 Water Bottles: Please ensure your child has a named water bottle in school every day.
  • πŸ§₯ Label Everything: Label all clothing so that lost items can be returned promptly.

23/01/26 - In art, we explored tint and shade using paint to create a three-dimensional image.

20/01/26 - We have been developing our algorithmic thinking by programming the turtle to write our names using Turtle Playground Academy.

   

PSHEπŸ’¬πŸŒ±

3/11/25 - In PSHE today, we learnt all about keeping our teeth healthy and strong. We then created some fantastic posters to showcase our learning!🦷
