MCAS

MCAS (My Child At School) is the platform that we use for all school bookings and communication which includes meal bookings, wraparound care, clubs, trips and other school-related activities.

When children join our school, parents/carers will be sent an MCAS activation email and they can then set up their access on the MCAS app.

School Dinners

All school meals must be pre-booked and paid for in advance via the MCAS app.

Booking window:

  • Opens: Friday morning
  • Closes: Monday evening
  • This is for the week after the upcoming week (Example: Meals booked between Friday 10th October and Monday 13th October will be for the week beginning Monday 20th October.)

Booking tips:

  • Parents can wait until Friday to book the full week for ease.
  • Meals cannot be booked for a full term in advance.
  • A minimum payment is required to prevent accounts from going into debt.

Cancellations and absences:

  • If a school meal is ordered but a child brings a packed lunch, the meal cost will still be charged.
  • If a child is absent (e.g. illness, trip, sporting event), the cost of any pre-booked meal will remain as credit in your MCAS account.

Wraparound Care

All wraparound care bookings, including late bookings, must be made through MCAS.

For bookings made after 1pm on the same day, parents/carers should:

  1. Book via the MCAS app, and
  2. Email wraparound@eye.peterborough.sch.uk to confirm.

This ensures that teachers receive the information before the end of the school day.

Communication from School

  • General information and letters are sent to parents by email. Parents/carers are reminded check your inbox regularly.
  • Pupil-specific messages (e.g. reminders or updates from teachers) will be sent via the MCAS app.

Parents/carers should ensure:

  • Notifications for the MCAS app are turned on.
  • They check the bottom of the message list for the most recent messages.

Permissions

Within the MCAS app, parents/carers will find a Permissions tab. This section must be completed to grant or deny permissions for activities such as food tasting, local walks and use of photos in newsletters.

If no response is recorded, we will assume that permission is not granted. In order to revoke any permissions, contact must be made via the school office as this cannot be done via the app for safeguarding reasons.

Clubs

At key points in the school year, MCAS is used for parents/carers to book the children places in school clubs.  When clubs are full, if a club space becomes available, office staff will use the MCAS waiting list to fill the spot. Parents/carers will receive a notification via MCAS if their child is allocated a place.

Trips

All educational trips and experiences are bookable through MCAS. Parents/carers also give permission for children to attend by making this booking on the MCAS app.

TLCs (Termly Learning Conferences)

Our TLC appointments (parent/carers consultations) are bookable via MCAS at certain points in the school year. A notification is sent to parents/carers when bookings are open.

If parents/carers need any support regarding MCAS, we would ask them to contact our school office where our staff would be happy to assist.
