Hedgehogs, Squirrels and Rabbits- Foundation

Spring 2

Hello Everyone!

This term we have focused on building and deepening our skills across the curriculum. In phonics we have been working on 3 and 4 sound words as well as learning about 2 letter spellings of a sound (e.g. ss,ll,zz). We have worked on forming a simple sentence using a capital letter, full stop and finger spaces. In reading, we have been developing our segmenting and blending in order to build fluency. In Literacy, we have looked at non-fiction texts. We have focused on retelling and writing facts linked to our learning and we have been developing a wide vocabulary as a result. In mathematics, we have looked at the composition of numbers to 8 and worked on our ability to subitise within 5. We have ordered numbers within 10 comparing their value and quantity along the way. In our wider curriculum, we have considered our world around us looking at the globe and contrasting climates, animals and habitats. In PSHE, we have been learning about how we grow and change and how we look after ourselves. In RE we have compared special places in different religions.  In addition to this, we had some new visitors in the class (chicks) and we will have an exciting trip to Sacrewell Farm.smiley
