Tigers - Year 6

We would like to say a huge thank you to Finlay for throwing us and end of year disco. It was fantastic and all children had a great time!

We absolutely loved celebrating World Book Day today! We dressed up as our favourite characters and created our own Potato Characters!

Over the last few weeks, Year 6 children have been learning basic First Aid. We have learnt how to do a Primary Survey, how to put a casualty into the recovery position and how to treat minor bleeds and nose bleeds. We will be learning how to apply bandages and slings over the next few weeks. The children have been extremely engaged and have loved the practical elements of the learning. Keep it up Year 6!

We had a fantastic first few days back at school. We learnt about Isambard Brunel and had the opportunity to design and make suspension bridges of our own. We tested their strength using Victorian weights 4/1/19

The Victorians- spring 2019

Welcome back everyone and a very Happy New Year to you all! Let's make 2019 an awesome year for learning! smiley

Our topic this term is the Victorians.

We will be exploring what it was like to be a child in Victorian Britain, as well as looking at great inventions, monarchy and empire.

In English we will be studying 'Street Child' by Berlie Doherty before moving onto 'The Nowhere Emporium' by Ross Mackenzie and 'The Greatest Showman' (2017).

In science we will be looking at 'evolution and inheritance' and making links to our Victorian topic, too.

Our mathematics learning will look at measures, percentages, ratio, algebra and area this half term, as well as lots of recapping of topics already covered.

Our trip this term will be to the Great Gressingham Victorian School where children will have the fantastic experience of a day in the life of a Victorian schoolboy/ schoolgirl taught by Mrs North.

We are super excited to get started on our learning journey! As always, keep checking in for updates of our learning.

Miss Wren

Today we had a great experience, all of KS2 were invited to watch a fantastic pantomime based on anti-bullying 15/11/18

Wow! What a fantastic effort with her home learning, well done Kyra! A beautiful poem and piece of work.

Thank you to everyone that donated to the Operation Christmas Child Project - we had some fantastic donations and as a class were able to fill 4 shoe-boxes. We filled 2 for boys (ages 5-9 and 2-4) and 2 for girls (ages 5-9 and 10 -14). The children that receive these boxes will be extremely grateful. What a fantastic thing to do! Well done Tigers 8/11/18.

Well done to Finlay, who is our Home Learning Champion this term. Finlay reads every single night without fail and always completes his homework on time. Well done Finlay! 8/11/18

Science - dissecting eyes on 2/11/18

All of Year 6 were lucky enough to take part in a Basketball Festival at AMVC lead by the Sports Leaders 10/10/18

A selection of our fantastic pieces of 'silhouette art' based on WW1 - 5/10/18

We have been learning about light and how we see the world around us. Today, the children made periscopes to help them to understand how light is reflected, enabling us to see around corners 21/9/18

Today we used a variety of drama explorative strategies to investigate the poem 'Attack' by Siegfried Sassoon and the empathy evoked by the poem 19/9/18

In English, we will be kick-starting our learning by studying some fascinating poetry of WW1.

In Math, we will be studying number and place value, ensuring that we are secure with numbers to ten million.

Please keep checking out our class page for important updates and snapshots of our learning! smiley
