Giraffes - Year 5

Welcome back Year 5!

Dear parents/carers,

We hope you all had a lovely Christmas and a nice break!

Some reminders and updates for the term ahead:

  • The classroom doors will be open at 8:40am. The school day starts at 8:45am. We finish at 3:25pm.
  • PE-Wednesday

The whole of Year 5 will do PE on a Wednesday this half term.

  • Changes to swimming/ forest school days-
  • Every Friday for the first half term, Giraffes will be doing Forest School. Please wear school uniform this day. This involves being outside all afternoon, come rain or shine, so please make sure your child brings a coat and some old shoes or wellies to change into before the session. Your child also must have their legs covered so all children need to wear trousers or leggings/tights with skirts/dresses.
  • Every Friday for the first half term, Zebras will be swimming. Please make sure you bring your swimming kit, towel and swimming hat. Please also ensure ear rings are removed.
  • Home learning
  • Please make sure your child reads regularly and brings their reading record in to be checked weekly on a Monday.
  • Weekly spellings will be sent home, with quick quizzes on a Monday.
  • Please make sure your child accesses Times Table Rockstars and Spelling Shed. They are great fun and a fantastic way to learn.

If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to ask, either at the beginning or end of the school day and keep an eye on our class pages for updates on our learning.

Best wishes,

Miss Canham and Mrs Shields
