In Literacy we will be focusing on label writing as well as using adjectives to describe. We will be exploring different fruits and creating our own fruit salad!

Autumn 2 Learning

We have had a great first half term together and we have all really enjoyed getting to know each other and building friendships.

In Literacy this half term, we will be focusing on the author Julia Donaldson. We will be looking at the texts The Gruffalo and Stickman. As we learn about these texts, we will be looking at the structure, sequencing and vocabulary as well as adapting the texts to create our own story in line with Talk for Writing. We will also be working on applying our phonics knowledge as we begin writing labels.

It is very important that we begin to apply this phonics knowledge to reading and all children will be coming home with a reading book and diary on Thursday 3rd November.

In maths, we will be deepening our knowledge of numbers within 5. This will include being able to subitise, understanding the composition of these numbers and beginning to recognise the pattern within our number system.

We will also be developing our colour mixing skills and looking at the seasonal changes around us.

As we build up to Christmas we will begin learning songs, creating Christmas crafts and learning about the nativity story in preparation for our Christmas performance.

We have really enjoyed exploring our new environment and settling into school life!
