PSHCEE/RSE

Our GROW Curriculum

Subject Leader - Miss Scane

PSHCEE is the study of how we can learn and develop the life-long, transferrable skills and knowledge needed to become valuable members of our society within an undetermined future.

At Eye CE Primary School, we aim to prepare our children with life-long, transferrable skills and knowledge so that they become valuable members of our society within an undetermined future.

Effective PSHE education should equip children and young people with the knowledge, understanding, attitudes and practical skills to live healthy, safe, productive and fulfilled lives.

But beyond this, PSHE education should also enable children and young children to reflective on and clarify their own values and attitudes, and explore the complex and sometimes conflicting range of values and attitudes they encounter now and will do in the future.

PSHE education is therefore also about developing young people’s sense of identity, their capacity to relate to other people and handle setbacks.

We will be using a PSHE programme of study from Kapow!. It covers the Curriculum through six key themes:

KEY THEME 1: FAMILY AND RELATIONSHIPS

KEY THEME 2: HEALTH AND WELLBEING

KEY THEME 3: SAFETY AND THE CHANGING BODY

KEY THEME 4: CITIZENSHIP

KEY THEME 5: ECONOMIC WELLBEING

KEY THEME 6: TRANSITION

Year 6 also work through a seventh theme which is called 'IDENTITY'.
