Friday 20th November - Science
Today, we looked more at the sound vibrations. We all went into the hall and discussed how the sound itself doesn't change when we get further away, but that the vibrations get slower the closer they get to us.
We also looked at the sound vibrations using tuning forks. We hit the tuning forks on the table and could feel the sound vibrating. We also dipped them in water to see the vibrations splashing the water!
Silver Star Awards!
Congratulations to Ben, Poppy and Toby for getting 10 Silver Stars so far!
Friday 13th November - Art
We created our very own silhouette pictures today based on The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe. We used paint and watch to create a sunset sky effect as the background. We then drew and cut out our image for the silhouette. We think they look great!
Friday 13th November - Science (Sound)
This week, we looked at how sound might travel through different objects. We looked at a bell and had to guess what kind of sound and the volume it would make. We then wrapped the bell in different objects to see if the noise changes.
Friday 13th November - Golden Award
Congratulations to Imogen for winning the golden award in Pandas this week! Well done

Friday 6th November - Science
This half term, we are looking at sound in science. For our first lesson, we learnt that sound travels in waves (which can be seen by putting rice of a drum and tapping the drum). We then used lots of different instruments to explore the ways in which sound is made through them.
Thursday 5th November - PE (Netball)
We played another game of Netball (we had to try and remember the rules from last half term!).
Tuesday 3rd November - DT
This half term, we are going to be making our very own pop-up storybooks! We researched into why pop-up books are effective, the audience and the different types of leverages and linkages that were used by looking at Miss Rimes' books from home!
Monday 6th November - Music
We used the glockenspiels to play Mardi Gras Groovin'.
Bookman Half Term Reading Challenge!
Congratulations to Dylan, Bella H, Bethany, Kian, Alex and Ruby for completing the Bookman Half Term Reading Challenge, we managed to add your amazing vocabulary to our Bookman tiered vocabulary on our working wall.
Swimming Autumn 2
Swimming will start next week (Thursday 12th October). The children will come into school wearing their school uniform as normal and will then get changed into their swimming kit.
Swimming hats must be worn, jewellery taken off and no nail varnish, otherwise your child will not be able to swim.
If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask.
Thank you, Miss Rimes.
Thursday 22nd October 2020 - The Digestive System
In Science, we have been looking at the digestive system. We did an experiment showing the process using a food bag (for the stomach), bread, orange juice (for the stomach acid) and tights.
We all found it very interesting (and a little bit gross!)
Thursday 22nd October - Christian Values Award
This half term, we have been looking at both Community and Thankfulness in Collective Worship. We voted for the two children in Pandas class that deserve those awards the most.
Congratulations to Toby for winning the award for Community!
Well done to Matteo for winning the award for Thankfulness!

Please send your child in full school uniform on Thursday 22nd and PE kit on Friday 23rd.
Thank you for your support.
Friday 2nd October 2020 - Karl Nova
Thursday was National Poetry Day and we had the amazing poet, Karl Nova visit us at school this Friday.
He told us all about how he got into poetry and we even learnt a rap to music about learning.
It was great fun to be poets!

**MESSAGE FROM MISS RIMES**
It has come to my attention that there has been some issues about the children going to the toilet. Of course the children may go to the toilet whenever they need to, we do encourage them to go at the appropriate time; such as break and lunch. I am sure you understand that due to Covid-19, we have had to be stricter with children getting up and leaving the classroom, this means we are operating a one child in the toilets rule. This may mean your child has to wait for another child to come back. Thank you, Miss Rimes & Mrs Edwards.
Science - Thursday 10th September 2020
In Science, we are looking at Forces and Magnets. We discussed the different types of forces, such as impact, friction, push and pull. On Thursday we went outside and explored different forces using the play equipment. We then came inside to write about what we found out.
Geography - Thursday 10th September
This week in Geography we have been looking at Rainforests. We looked at where in the World Rainforests are located. On Thursday we discussed how our Rainforests are being destroyed and what we can do to help. We pretended to interview each other; asking 'Why are the rainforests being destroyed?' (Trees are being cut down for timber), 'Why is deforestation a problem? (Animals lose their homes and native tribes losing their culture), 'What can be done to save the rainforest?' (Don't waste electricity and replant trees).
History - Tuesday 8th September.
We have been recapping Maya Civilizations in History this week. We have discussed their rituals, their culture and even did some Mayan Maths! On Tuesday we went outside and pretended to be Ancient Mayans. We acted out weddings, markets and rituals.
We have had so much great fun in our first two days as Pandas.
Someone secretly ruined our classroom so we had no-where to learn! We had to work together to build our own classrooms/dens in the forest area.
We also were inspired by the title of our English book, The Wolves in the Walls, and decided to work hard to draw our very own wolf pictures - they look amazing!
I am so excited for the start of this year and to meet you all! We have so many exciting things planned already and I can't wait for us all to get started! Things may seem a little different, but we have all worked really hard to still make school a safe and welcoming environment for you all.
Please remember that Year 4 learning starts at 9 am and finishes at 3:20 pm, each year group has a different start and finish time to keep us all safe. Should this change, a letter will be sent out. Every child will have to be brought in and taken home by an adult, they cannot walk to and from school on their own.
In English, we will be looking at The Wolves in the Walls by Neil Gaiman which is a brilliant book that I am sure you will love as much as I do. Throughout the year, we will also be looking at a collection of poems by Michael Rosen, starting off with Don't Put Mustard in the Custard.
In Maths, we will be starting the year thinking about place value, and I'll add more detail about that as we go through the unit so you can support your Pandas learning at home.
In History, we will be looking at Ancient Greece and their way of life. A topic which I cannot wait to delve in deeper with you all.
In Science, we will be starting off with the Animals including Humans topic; looking at the digestive system and our teeth (we already have some great experiments lined up for you!)
In RE, we are thinking about what kind of world Jesus would want.
Our PE day will be Thursdays. Please have your child come into school wearing their PE kit on this day. PE will start on Thursday 17th September. We, unfortunately, won't be swimming during the first half term.
Reading Records need to be handed in on a Friday, and will be returned on a Monday. Reading scheme books will only be changed on a Monday.
Mrs Edwards is our Panda TA and will be with us every morning and Wednesday afternoon.
If you have any questions, queries or worries, please don't hesitate to speak to me. I am available on the playground from 8:40 am every morning or you can email me at firstname.lastname@example.org
Thanks, and see you all on Thursday 3rd September!
